hey salties,
okay, what i type might be kinda disorganised and take many times of readings to understand, but i felt that i really wanna share this with you guys. It's basically a mix between what i learnt from Fusion'08 & a chat which i had with my pastor.
Today, i was having a chat with my pastor & i was telling him that during QT i find it really hard to quieten myself down to listen, to meditate & to wait on Him when this is actually the crux of having an INTIMATE relationship with God and it's this intimate relationship with God that defines us as Christians and nothing else. Which basically means, Christianity's all about this inimate relationship with God which many people tend to miss out. Without this intimate relationship, we may seem perfect, flawless, God-fearing & everything when inside we're crumbling 'cause this is all only on the outside, like the pharisees. And this quietening down takes alot of focus and spiritual discipline to LISTEN. Denying ourselves and
focusing on God, which in other words means, being God-centered. To be
still and know that He is God. To open our lives to Him to let Him intervene, to hear what He has to say to us regarding the different aspects of our lives, to
submit, surrender ourselves to His will, to be used by Him. To be recharged in that intimate relationship we have with Him, Him being our source of strength.
And another thing is something which i really hope would help you who are reading this be assured in God's love. Matthew 3:17 says And a voice from heaven said,
"This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." and likewise, this very statement is said to
ALL of us. We are people who yearn to be loved and accepted, and because of this, we tend to do things to gain others' approval/acceptance, but once we know that we are loved and approved by God, we would want to continue to live our lives to please Him, gain His approval because
He loves us. And when we do so, we would start to realise changes in our lives. So i'd like to challange you to remind yourself of this verse and really think about it each morning or whenever & wherever and be assured in His love, knowing that this is all we ever need to sustain us through trials, and our lives on earth.
Lastly, i'd just like to repeat what the speaker on monday's chapel said about us as the paper cup. If we were flawless (holeless), God's light (the tealight) wouldn't be able to shine through, and would be snuffed out; but if we have many weaknesses, flaws, (hole-y) THEN God's light (the tealight) would be able to be seen through the holes, and oxygen would enter through the holes to feed the light. God's glory would shine through our weaknesses.
Hope this would encourage us to pursue an
intimate relationship with God, because with that, everything would fall into place, and that we would be assured in His love for us, and however weak, flawed and unworthy we may feel to be used by God, we're actually His BEST tools(super hole-y!), if we just let Him use us. ((:
